The Plaza at Harvard University is a gathering space at the heart of the university, designed to serve students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the local community. Sitting atop the Cambridge Street Underpass, the site connects the historic Harvard Yard with the University Science Center and North Campus, and exemplifies a new kind of public infrastructure—acting as a model of contemporary sustainable design in service of rich and exciting social spaces.
The Sweeney Playground redesign offers new life to the half-acre park, with a brightly colored synthetic surface stretched over a rippling topography of hillocks and valleys. Water jets triggered by children encourage interactive play on hot summer days. The permeable surface and infiltration basin allow for groundwater recharge during storm events.

The Eda U. Gerstacker Grove is a renovation of an underutilized campus quad at the heart of the University of Michigan’s North Campus, home to the Colleges of Engineering, Art, and Architecture. The Grove is a lush and active space that can accommodate a range of rotating events and everyday activities.

Erie Street Plaza is a flexible social space that can accommodate large gatherings and day-to-day activities, built on sustainable design principles. It is one of a series of public space activators along the Milwaukee Riverwalk, a three-mile pedestrian and bicycle corridor that connects downtown Milwaukee to the emerging and redeveloping Third Ward and Beerline Districts, and to the lakefront beyond.
The design inventively integrates sustainable stormwater, material, and lighting strategies; it reorients downtown to the riverfront and creates a flexible space for civic gatherings; and frames opportunities for new development while creating an entirely new image for the City of Green Bay. In addition, CityDeck was designed to withstand a 100 year flood.
