Project Description
When is a Tower not just a tower?
When it is a workplace that unites a previously disparate company, a bustling urban precinct, and a heritage location revitalising the heart of a city.
Having redefined the skyline of Perth, Western Australia, with its 45-storey premium commercial tower, Brookfield Place also redefined the city centre at ground level. Turning a dormant city block full of boarded up heritage buildings into a vibrant retail and entertainment precinct created a new destination for office workers and the people of Perth – and blurred the line between public and private spaces.
Together with Fitzpatrick + Partners, we designed the tower as a high performance, flexible working environment for BHP, PWC and Barrick Gold. Within the tower, we designed the 60,000sqm BHP offices as a ‘healthy workplace’ to bring together employees from over 20 different sites.
“From any vantage point, Brookfield place stands out very loudly and proudly and I love the fact that it has such bold architecture, and yet, at the ground plane you’ve got this beautiful intricate, interconnection into the existing heritage fabric along St Georges Terrace.”
Lisa Scaffidi, Perth City Lord Mayor
