“…this large roof garden features highly biodiverse planting in 50 bespoke planters of varying sizes to accommodate a dense planting design of varying scales…”
Project Description
Completed in autumn 2022, this large city roof garden embraces biodiversity to the fullest, with myriad wildlife plant species for all seasons. Designed for a private investment bank, the 200sqm roof garden is part of a trio of outdoor spaces brimming with architectural trees, shrubs & grasses. Utilising native meadow perennials, we’ve paired these with ornamental grasses to create a lush urban grassland, situated right behind the Bank of England, with stunning city views above the very centre of London.
At 200sqm, this large roof garden features highly biodiverse planting in 50 bespoke planters of varying sizes to accommodate a dense planting design of varying scales. We specialise in bespoke rooftop planters, and this project features low troughs for grasses, medium planters for shrubs and square containers for trees. Selected tree species include Cornus, Halesia, Broussonetia, Betula, Acer griseum, Magnolia, Osmanthus, Sorbus, Amelanchier & Syringa, with Anemanthele grasses, underplanted with many perennials such as Scabiosa, Astrantia, Centaurea, Veronica, Teucrium, Geum & Lythrum. The star of the miniature meadow is the Lythrum, the native purple Loosestrife, with striking pink colours all summer long.
