Presidio Coastal Trail

Stretching three miles along the northwestern edge of the City, MFLA designed the Presidio Coastal Trail to provide an accessible multi-use trail and a series of new overlooks, destinations, and park amenities along the bluffs of the Presidio coastline. MFLA has completed construction administration for the initial project phase, the Golden Gate Overlook and associated trails and amenities.

Pinterest Mews

A shortcut, a pause, a sit, this mews provides both a garden retreat and a circulation spine to the new Pinterest Headquarters. Designed to be both a connector and an extension to the transparent Pinterest lobby’s moveable curtain wall, the site is composed of angled steel planters embedded with cedar slatted benches, forming a complex geometry and relationship of planter to seating.

Old Winery Road Residence

The 3.5 acre, relatively level site, was conceived as a modern agrarian assemblage of farmhouse, aggregate buildings and amenities, gardens and meadows. Framed by the surrounding hills, the spatial organization and amenities siting focused on sightlines and viewsheds. A series of interlocking “rooms” provide outdoor dining and lounging, lawns, bocce, vegetable-potager gardens, swimming terrace and pool house.

Located in the heart of culturally rich South Austin, Lamar Union is a dynamic, mixed-use, urban infill development, embodying its surroundings. The project has reinvigorated this region of Austin and includes multiple structures that encompass residential, retail and entertainment uses. The project includes parkland dedication, as well as a central promenade intended for public use.

The design focuses on a careful mix of art, technology and lifestyle that places a huge emphasis on creating “outdoor rooms” that bind the adjacent developments together in a seamless, unified way.

Fareground at One Eleven

Fareground liberates a landscape once lost to Austin’s bustling urban environment through the transformation of an underutilized sunken office plaza. The project’s design goals of increased social engagement, environmental sensitivity and economic viability set a standard for downtown Austin development. Leading a team of consultants, dwg. increased visibility and accessibility to the site, designed gathering spaces with greater flexibility and shade, and reduced onsite water use.
