Amidst the Savannah’s oaks the grassland rises; sky and land converge. Wander down the narrow passages and discover a frame to the sky – a lens through which to explore and dream. The Texas diptych of sky and land has played a central role in the narrative of western explorers, artists and writers throughout time. SKYFORT celebrates the intersection of sky and Savannah through material, form, and experience.
Located in the heart of culturally rich South Austin, Lamar Union is a dynamic, mixed-use, urban infill development, embodying its surroundings. The project has reinvigorated this region of Austin and includes multiple structures that encompass residential, retail and entertainment uses. The project includes parkland dedication, as well as a central promenade intended for public use.
The design showcases the existing heritage trees and creates a vibrant urban open space that celebrates the rich history of the site while projecting forward an image of environmental innovation, design excellence and social equity. The design focuses on a careful mix of art, technology and lifestyle that places a huge emphasis on creating “outdoor rooms” that bind the adjacent developments together in a seamless, unified way.
Fareground liberates a landscape once lost to Austin’s bustling urban environment through the transformation of an underutilized sunken office plaza. The project’s design goals of increased social engagement, environmental sensitivity and economic viability set a standard for downtown Austin development. Leading a team of consultants, dwg. increased visibility and accessibility to the site, designed gathering spaces with greater flexibility and shade, and reduced onsite water use.

The 816 Congress Rooftop project transformed unsightly, under-performing, inaccessible flat roofs into a series of unique amenity decks and green roofs, and subsequently profitable building assets. The resulting, largest, 15th level terrace has become a tenant retreat and a coveted event space, offering unprecedented views of the downtown skyline and the Texas State Capitol.
